Can't open multiple explorer windows

I can't open internet explorer in more that one window.
If I try to open another window of internet explorer it
takes over the first window and I can't use the back
button to get back to the page the first window was on. I
have tried everything I can think of to fix this. Checked
for any viruses and found none. Please help me!!!!
 
Tools/Internet Options/Advanced Tag.
.... Reuse windows for shortcuts.

Also, if you have Yahoo! companion it's been known to cause this type of
activity.
