can't open internet explorer browser

When I click on the IE browser, it says it can't find the server. Yet I can
access the internet just fine with my MSN browser. My ISP is Verizon and I
have DSL. I called my ISP helpdesk but they can't help me. I downloaded the
newer IE 6 version but alas, no help. What's the deal here? PLEASE HELP!
 
come ooooooooooon somebody!!! Now it says "page cannot be displayed" What
is the deal here, I mean WTF??!!!!
