Can't open e-mail pictures?

Every time I receive a picture from someone through my email I can"t open it?
microsoft word pops up and a bunch of symbols are there... So in order for me
to see the pic's I have to now save to computer and then open them. That's
to much work... something happened when the kids where on the computer...
this just started happening...don't know what to do...please help.

Scan your machine and clean up the caches.

Look in the file associations and if Word is selected to open jpg's,
change it to IE or whatever program you prefer open jpg's. Open Control
Panel, Folder Options, File Types, look down the list of extensions. If
a graphics file is associated with Word, click the icon, click Change,
and select the preferred program.
