Can't open database someone else designed

Hello,

I am in the process up updating a database from Office 97 to Office 2002 and
I am not the owner but was told I have Admin rights. Whenever I attempt to
open the database, I get the following message:

The Current User account deosn't have permissions to convert or enable this
database.

I have added myself to the workgroup but don't get the First Screen of the
Security Wizard.

The Workgroup is stored with an mde extension so I am assuming it is
protected with Visual Basic as well.

Any ideas on what to do?

In spite of what the documentation may tell you, you actually need to log on
as the owner of the database to convert it. I would suggest trying to import
all of the objects from the original database into a blank 2002 database. If
that fails then, if you have a copy of Access 97, create a new blank Access
97 database (which you will be the owner of) and import everything into it
from the original. You should then be able to convert this new database to
2002.
