can't open backup of outlook.pst

I followed the directions from the website to backup my
outlook files. But the outlook.pst can't be opened in
explorer or from my backup disk. It doesn't know what
program created it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank
you.
 
In Outlook;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...
