Can't open attachment inside Outlook message

DC Gringo

Using WinXP SP2, Office 2003 Pro, I am having trouble opening .tif
attachments from inside messages. First I get the window warning me to open
only from trustworthy source, choose a saving location, then when I click
open, get the following error message in a msg box entitled "Microsof Office
Document Imaging":

"A component of the application is missing. Please reinstall the
application"

All other attachments open just fine. In addition, if I detach the file,
save it to the file system, and open it from Windows Explorer, it opens just
fine.

Help!

Roady,

Thank you for the advice. I tried your how-to and actually didn't not find
the OLK<number> folder at all in the directory specified in the registry.

Anyone else with further ideas?

"Temporary Internet Files" isn't easily seen by Windows Explorer in many
cases. In the event Windows Explorer can't find it, a command line prompt
will work.

cd "%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files"
dir

If you have ever before opened an attachment directly from Outlook the key
should be there. Make sure you are looking at the correct location; HKCU
instead of HKLM or use the tool provided.
