Can't logon to XP

When I boot my HP laptop, it stops at the Microsoft
Windows XP splash screen. It seems to only be missing the
usernames that appear to the right of the logo that allow
me to logon. What can I do to fix this?

Hit ctrl+alt+delete twice - does this get you a logon prompt?
