Can't login

My xp login password is suddenly and unexplainably
changed. When I start up the login window pops up and
asks for the password. when I put it in it says incorrect
password. Is there a way to get around this login screen?
Thanks,
Kristian

Are you sure your caps lock key isn't on? Do other people use your
computer? If you have XP Home, enter Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8
key as the computer is starting up to get the proper menu) and log in
with the usually hidden Administrator account. The default password is
a blank. Once in, go into the Control Panel User Accounts applet and
change your user's password to something new that you will remember.
Then reboot into Regular Mode.

Make sure you have a current version (no earlier than 2003) antivirus
installed using updated definitions and that you have a firewall.

In addition to the capslock key, check the numlock status if your computer
is a notebook. On many systems the numlock comes on by default just before
the password prompt...

Good catch, Patrick. I've made a note of that. Thanks.
