Hi,
I know this is the wrong group, but there doesn't seem to be any for Server
2003 - at least not using the web news client at
communities.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups...
I saw a couple posts about this error in XP, but we're getting it on 2003
Server Standard. If you attempt to login to terminal services or the
console, it freezes for
10 minutes or so then displays this message dialog and immediately logs off
once "OK" is clicked:
[Windows Product Activation]
A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for
this computer.
Error Code: 0x80040057
This error doesn't happen all the time; eventually it will let you in.
Although, once it happens once it doesn't stop for several hours at least.
This is a relatively new server; when this first started happening it had not
been activated yet. We activated it last week hoping it would fix the
problem but it has not.
I've tried remote restarting it using shutdown.exe from a Windows XP client,
but that returns an error: The device is not ready.
