Windows boots and brings up the password/ log on screen. Then when I put in
my password and try to logon, it says i cant. A box appears that says it
might be because of a catastrophic media failure or data structure corruption.

Login as Administrator with the password that you assigned during
installation.

Then, recreate a new account and copy all files from your old My documents
to the new My Documents.

I cant either. All the names are missing but one. How do I log on as
administrator without it

not your regular administrator account.
The Hidden Admin account that is seen in Safe Mode!!

why won't it work?
password?
loading?

Pro or Home?

Try booting up recovery console and do a:
chkdsk c: /r /f

Description of the Windows XP Recovery Console
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;314058

If this doesn't work, then try a repair.

BTW, 1358L ERROR_INTERNAL_DB_CORRUPTION
This error indicates the requested operation cannot be completed due to a
catastrophic media failure or on-disk data structure corruption.

It means you cant authenticate as the DB is corrupted. All your security has
gone west.
