Cant log on....HELP!!!!

Was trying to download the service pack from Microsoft
when I got the error message: Stop C000021 A fatal Stystem
Error, The Windows logon process system terminated with an
unexpected status of 0x00000080 0x00000000 0x00000000. The
system has been shut down. Have no idea what to do now,
have put the Windows XP disc in but it doesn't boot up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

boot up your PC and press F8 continuously until safe mode,
safe mode with network etc.. appears. choose the last
known good configuration...
