Can't Log In or Dead Desktop

I have a computer running xp that will only show the
desktop wallpaper after signing on or will hang
during "windows xp is loading" after signing on. It's my
mother in laws computer, she says she was checking her
email when she opened one, a picture of a santa taking a
dump popped up and when she tried closing the pic, it
opened another popup that listed a bunch of porn sites.

When she tried closing that window her whole system
hanged. She rebooted and now can't log into windows using
any user on the computer.

I have already tried "Last known good"
I have re-installed windows xp
I have run several anit-virus progs
I can't find any information on this problem at all.
I can log into windows using safe mode and the admin
account. Any effort to log into the system other than
that is rewarded with a hang as windows tries to load or
a nice image of the desktop wallpaper that the user has
and the system seems to hang after loading it...there are
no icons, toolbars or any keyboard functions that I can
perform to break out of the stalemate.

Any suggestions?

Ask your mother-in-law why Santa always says Ho, Ho, Ho ?

Tell her, He's making is list and checking it twice, he's
gon'a find out who's naught and nice.


Boot the Norton or McAfee CD and do a scan. Or boot the XP
CD, then run SpyBot.

Or, check Kelly's Korner for a registry hack to remove your
porn pages.
