can't load patches

I am using WinXP Pro and tried to install Internet
Explorer 6 SP1 Cumulative Update (Q828750) and was asked
to install IE6 SP1 first. In fact the preinstalled OS (a
new IBM PC) came with IE6 SP1 already. I reinstalled it
anyway and was told IE6 SP1 was already installed. I
then tried the patches again and still rejected. What
should I do?
