Cant Load Java

I have a problem where most java based websites wont load
properly, or sites with java scripted links wont work.
i am running Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 1
(5.1 - 2600. I have uninstalled MS Java Virtual Machine
and am running the latest version of Sun Java 1.42_04.

Stephen, see if in IE>Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>scroll down to Java
Sun box that it's checked.

Installing the Sun one puts an applet in Control Panel - on its Browser
page see that it is selected for use with your Internet Browser
