It may not like your ram.

I have changed ram, changed video card.I build systems on a part time basis,
& I have NEVER seen this before.
I am wondering if this is a compatability issue with the motherboard
chipset, which is ALi.
I get all kinds of strange errors, for example:
1. After formating the hard drive for ntfs, I get an error message that
windows could not format the HD,now remember It formated perfectly for win
2000 ntfs.

2. If I get by formating(use fdisk & format Fat32)then it has errors copying
files from the cd, tried 3 different xp cd's

3. If I get through the formating & the copy errors, it reboots after
copying files, shows the splash screen loading win xp & then goes
black.....for ever. Safe mode does the same.

Anybody have any idea's???

I would see if there is a BIOS update for your motherboard. If there
isn't, then I guess you have to accept that the motherboard isn't
compatible with XP.

Have you made sure that your PC's hardware components are capable
of supporting WinXP? This information will be found at the PC's
manufacturer's web site, and on Microsoft's Windows Catalog:
(http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx) Additionally, run
Microsoft WinXP Upgrade Advisor to see if you have any incompatible
hardware components or applications.
