Cant Install xp onto new Hard Drive.

Help Needed Please....

Bought a new Hard Drive but i cant install xp home onto
it.
When installing it loads all the files for installation
and then restarts. Then i get Blue Screen and the
message "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"

I took hard drive out and put it into a friends pc and it
all installed no problem but then when i put it back into
mine it wont boot up ( freezes even in safe mode )
I can also access hard drive as a slave drive so i think
the hard drive is actually ok.

I did install win 98 onto with no problems.

Ive changed all cables and ram but still not working.

Any ideas??

First you cannot install on one pc and then tranfer to another without doing
a repair install. Try that and see if you can get it working. You may need
to reactivate it also.

How big is your original hardrive harddrive and the new harddrive? Is your
Win XP OEM or Microsoft? Was the install on the original HD pre-installed?
What type of computer is it(Dell, Gateway, Do-it-yourself, etc ...)? You
might need a specific driver for your system HD controller or motherboard.
