Hi there,
if I run any of those following updates, I get the message that "This update
is not for your system" (or something like this).

I already heart that this perhaps has to do with corrupted windows update
files.

Does anybody know how to solve this?

Regards,
Marc

Are these updates coming through Windows Update or are you manually
downloading them? Its possible that you are downloading the wrong file for
the wrong platform (x86 or x64).

hi Andre,

thanks for the quick response! :-)
I do run Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bit on a Dell Inspiron 531.
I downloaded those updates in the 32-bit version manually because of another
error with Media Center.
All the following Updates show the same message:
Windows6.0-KB941649-v2-x86
Windows6.0-KB938979-x86
Windows6.0-KB941229-v2-x86
Windows6.0-KB931573-x86
Windows6.0-KB938194-x86

Regards,
Marc

I assume then the patch has already been installed thats why you are
receiving the error message.

No, all the Updates are not installed as the Update-Overview doesn't show them.

Marc

I had this problem with another update, in fact three updates. So, I
downloaded the three updates manually from a different site and applied them
while running in Safe Mode. This solved the problem. I had to use a command
line remedy which cleared the corrupted update log. The command line remedy
can be found under Windows update error 8007000b. It corrects the corrupted
update log file. Hopes this helps.

Hi Davido,

can you give me just a small hint where to look exactly?
Your QuickstartGuide is long like a Vista Bible :-)

Hi Davido969,
in safeMode Vista tells me, that I can't run those updates and a x8000...
comes up.
I tried all the updates.
Can you tell me how you got your updates (*.msu) running in safe-mode?

Regards,
Marc

You have to go to the DOS prompt to while in Safe
Mode to get it to work. I found the commcand line on a Vista
troubleshooting page.
fustil resource setautoreset true C:\. As I say, on my machine it only
works in Safe Mode. It may be a bug if you can't run it, Vista is one wobbly
mess, I'm thinking of going back to XP if this keeps up. Good luck.

Hi Davido696,
tried it - but again: "Update can't be run in Safe Mode".
Regards,
Marc
