I recently purchased xp pro to upgrade from me. I have
the new 2004 norten's internet security which is written
for xp pro. I did a new install which erased my harddrive
before installing xp. After the install, I have been
unable to install the internet security. It gets so far
in the install and says that it failed and would I like to
try again. What am I doing wrong or is my computer having
a problem? How do I fix this? I'm afraid to be on the
net w/o virus protection.

Your post is a bit confusing. Did you do an upgrade from ME to XP PRO or did you do a clean install. At first you say you did an upgrade then you change your mind and say you did a new install. If it's the upgrade that you in fact did then some of the ME registry remains and you should go into your search options and type in Norton and then delete everything you find. You may then need to go to the Norton site and download a new and seperate updater service for your system. The problem maybe that an old registry entry remains for Norton which won't allow the completion of the install. For more or better help you should contact Norton as the disk is supported if purchased legitimately. Or go to the Norton news groups for help. {:~)
