If you have a restore date that goes back to that time, you can use System
Restore to take you back and that will restore the registry to its condition
on that date. Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.

When I try to import a Registry file that I saved a few days earlier, I get
a dialog containing the following note:
"Cannot import C:\Windows\J0-4-1-5.reg: Not all data was successfully
written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other
processes."

I have tried disabling all startup files in msconfig system and restarting,
but still have same problem. Please help.

Thanks Michael. That was a quick reply. I will go now and restore to an
earlier date. Should that dialog note disappear after restore and reboot?

You're welcome.

As to that dialog box, it is being triggered by an apparent corruption or
other problem with the reg file you exported and as such will not be changed
by System Restore. System Restore, should restore the entire registry to
the state it was in at the time to which you restore and as such, should
accomplish the same thing as importing that reg file.
