Can't get wireless connection

I have installed a Netgear wireless router in my house and am using a USB2 Netgear Adaptor in my pc. When I plug the adaptor into my laptop and load the software it works great, but when I load the same software and same Adaptor into my daughters eMachine, IE won't work. It shows that I have a great signal, but I can't get an IP address when i do a ipconfig /all. The machine has never had anything on the network (doesn't have an eithernet card). It is running Windows xp home addition. Any recommendations.

Hi there,

Has the Emachine ever been able to obtain an ip address on a wired connection or dial connection?
If the answer is no then you may want to look into reseting TCP/IP on the Emachine, take a look at the following KB for more information:
