Can't Get Windows Update to Work

When I click on the "Start" button, then "Windows Update",
I get an error meaage telling me that I m not using a
windows product to update, evne though it I got XP loaded
on my computer from DELL. The automatic updates work, I
jsut can't get to section to do a computer scan to
download the updates/patches that I want.

Try the following:
Delete or rename the catroot2 folder. NOTE: That's catroot2, DO NOT DELETE
or RENAME the CATROOT folder. This folder is a subfolder of the System32
subfolder of Windows.

Then reboot the system and try Windows Update again.
