cant get to desktop

computer wont boot. tried using cd but wont boot from
cd. tried using win98se boot disk, but cant get past the
a prompt, wont let me install or repair from dos. tried
going to cd rom drive and i386\winnt but tells me
invalid. can anyone give me instructions on how to
install using boot disk from 98 and the xp pro disk.

unfortunately i cant get into safe mode either. all it
will do is go to the win logo and then restart the
computer. m/s tech was helping me, we got disconnected
and they dont take calls after 3p pdt. i can boot with a
98se boot disk but dont know where to go after that. can
get to the cd rom drive but cant install within dos and
dont know how to tell computer to go to windows from the
install cd.
