Can't get set program access & defaults to work

Each month various PC magazine come with DVD's which allow you to read
articles & trial/install programs. These DVD's use your browser to open
& navigate around the disc. Firefox has been my default browser for
about 8 months. I put the latest disk into the machine & Firefox opened
& then displayed an error message.

I changed XP so that Internet Explorer was the default browser & the
disc opened without a problem. I then changed XP back to see if I still
had a problem with Firefox & as soon as the disc tried to start I got
this message.

O:Uninstall log folder not found:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mozilla\Mozilla Thunderbird\1.5 (en-US)
Uninstall\Uninstall log Folder.

I have tried system restore but this didn't work either.

I not certain just what XP thinks is my default Browser. How do I fix
this problem?

I'm wondering what Thunderbird has to do with the browser setting, and why
the autorun is looking for uninstall.log file. Is this happening to all the
CD/DVDs that use a HTM file as the index?

That was a typo. When I typed Thunderbird I should have put Firefox.

Does reinstalling Mozilla Firefox help?
