can't get past win xp user logon screen

I installed Norton Systemworks 2004 tonight. I ran the antivirus software
and found several files infected with adware viruses. Norton would delete
several files just by clicking on the fix button. It told me to find the
others and delete them manually. I found most of them and deleted them.

Now, after a re-boot, I can not get past the user log on screen. I can
choose either user or administrator icon and it will start to load my
settings. Then about 4 seconds later, without changing screens, it will show
me as logging off. Then I go back to the user icon screen and can choose
again. The whole process keeps going on & on & on, but I can not get
anything to load up.

Please help!

Hi

After the next reboot, keep tapping the F8 key, to see if you can access a
screen that has 'Last Known Good Configuration' as an option. Try that to
see if you can boot into Windows normally.

I have exactly the same problem after using Norton to remove adware. Anyone
out there who has come up with a resolution?

I have the exact same problem and am not able to get around the problem even
using F8 as trying in any form of safe mode does the same thing. Is there
another solution to this problem.
