Can't get past Win XP log on screen

I installed Norton Systemworks 2004 today and ran the antivirus software. It
found several files infected with adware viruses. It removed some files and
I followed the instructions and removed several of the others that I could
find.

After rebooting, I can not get past the log on screen. I see the used icons
to click to log on, but when I choose one, it will start loading my
preferences and then go right into logging off and back to the choose user
screen.

Please help!

Hi

After the next reboot, keep tapping the F8 key, to see if you can access a
screen that has 'Last Known Good Configuration' as an option. Try that to
see if you can boot into Windows normally.
