Hi. I'm a one person business. With all of the worm stuff
happening, I figured that I should let all of the
microsoft updates install. I did that last week through
auto install.

Today, my computer would not go beyond the screen that
has you click on owner. In fact, it's just been in the
past week that I had to get past this screen to get onto
the computer. The desktop used to come up when I booted
up.

I tried f8 (on someone's recommendation) and selected the
option to go back to a previous version. It didn't work.
Any other ideas since I have lost a whole day on this and
need to get access to my work?

I am not adept at computer stuff.

Do a repair install or a clean install and restore data from backups.
However, since this is a business and you, by your own statement, are
not adept with computers, call a good local computer repair person to
come out and fix things. They can rescue your data and put the machine
right. Then learn how to back up because bad stuff happens with
computers all the time.

Pam, did you do a "System Restore", or was it "Last Known Good
Configuration"?

I would have thought that System Restore might correct your problem.
In the future, only download Critical Updates. The others are prone to cause
problems, and you will likely never need them.
