I just started working for a company that had just recently taken one server off the network. Problem is, the guy that brought it off the network, didn't DCPROMO the server to an application server from Domain Controller. I have been asked to bring the server back onine, and DCPROMO from Domain Controller to app. server. Problem is, I try and boot the server and it won't connect to the network. Does anyone have any info that might be of some use. I have double checked all the little things, like checking cables. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Check the tcp/ip settings on it to make sure it is compatible with the network and
particularly that the dns settings are correct in that it should point to itself or
another AD domain controller as it's preferred dns server. What does it not do to on
the network? Can you ping local host, it's IP address, and another computer on the
network? I would also run netdiag on it which is found on the install disk in
support/tools where you will need to run the setup program there. --- Steve
