can't get dual monitor to work

I've got my thinkpad t20 connected to the tv with a s-video
cable trying to watch dvd's on the tv and I've done
everything I know to go to the dual monitor mode, but
nothing shows on the tv screen. I have a savage graphics
card if that makes any difference. PLEASE HELP!! I would
appreciate any ideas.

You should check your notebook manual, but a generic way:

Connect notebook to TV via s-video cable. Turn TV on.

Reboot PC... Windows should now 'see' it has a tv attached.

Right click on the desktop and select Properties. Click on Settings, and
then Advanced. Look for the Monitors tab and it should give instructions
there.

You should ensure you have updated graphics drivers for your notebook for
this.... and since it's a notebook ONLY use the ones from the notebook
manufacturer's website.
