Can't get conputer to hibernate

In the Power Options Dialog I select the Hibernate tab and then click on the
Enable Hibernation checkbox.

When I press the OK button a dialog pops up. The title of the popup dialog
is "Power Policy Manager unable to rese..." and "Incorrect function" is
displayed.

What does this mean and how to I fix the problem so that I can enable the
hibernate function.

I have checked the ACPI driver and it shows no problems.

Hi,

Haven't further dug into the problem in the past week so I still don't know
what is causing the problem or the fix. I somehow feel it is mobo and/or
bios related. The mobo in my wife's computer failed so I put my mobo in her
computer and installed a higher performance mobo/P4 processor in my
computer. Hibernate hasn't never worked in the new mobo. I even installed
the latest available bios on my mobo but no go.

Hi Dr_Joe

That was an absolutely a brilliant discovery. I too use Powerquest
Datakeeper V 5.0.
I disabled the program and hibernate started functioning again. It never
occurred to me that a program running in the background and whose
responsibility is to backup files would stop a computer from shutting itself
off via the hibernate route. How did you ever hit upon Datakeeper as being
the culprit?

Note that I had been using Datakeeper on my old mobo with the Windows 2000
OS installed. When I installed my new mobo I switched to WindowsXP. So I
there is a conflict between Datakeeper and WindowsXP.

I am indebted to you for your discovery ....
