Can't find Outlook in 2007 trial

I recently purchased a new computer running Vista Home Basic and installed
my existing Office Professional '97. All the programs worked correctly
except Outlook. I got the error message: "Cannot start Outlook." I thought
perhaps this was because my Office version was too old, so I tried
downloading the Office Professional 2007 trial (which according to
Microsoft's website includes Outlook plus Business Contact Manager.) Again,
all the other programs (Word, Excel, etc.) downloaded and work correctly.
But this time, I can find no reference to Outlook in the download/install.
Since Microsoft does not provide technical support with trials, I certainly
don't want to pay the high price of Office 2007 Professional until I am sure
that it will set up completely on my computer. (I'm using a stand-lone
Compaq Presario desktop.) I have uninstalled previous editions of
Office/Outlook to avoid conflict--per Microsoft's suggestion. Can anyone
help? I cannot figure out if this is a problem with Office or Vista Home
Basic. Do I need a Service Pack or Vista upgrade?

Office 2003 on wards is fully compatible with Vista
The Outlook trial will not install if any other version of Outlook exists on
your PC
