Can't Find New 250GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive On System

I just installed a brand new external HD and need to initialize/format it.
Unfortunately I can't see it on the system, except as a "USB Mass Storage
Device". How do I go about formating it when I can't see it in "My
Computer"???

See if you can see it in Disk Manager (Right click my computer-> manager->
disk manager)
If it is visible there, you may have to assign a drive letter. If it already
has a drive letter assigned but it is the same drive letter to a CD or a
thumb drive etc, simply reassign the drive letter.

Thanks for your reply! I followed your suggestion and was still unable to
see it with the disk management tool. If I select Device Manager> Hard
Drives, it shows up, along with my other internal drives. Any suggestions on
how I can get to it from here?

Jarrod what OS are you running ....

go to www.belarc.com download belarc - install it and get a html out
put of what your system is
then give us all some details on what you have so that at least we can
give you more idea on how to over come this situation...
