Can't find my e-mail in WinXP

Hi there. I was wondering why I can't find my e-mail in WinXP. When I turn
the computer on, it tells me that I have 6 unread messages. I check my mail
in Outlook Express, MSN, Yahoo, Earthlink, Verizon, and AOL and all I have
is two pieces of spam in my AOL mail account. Where are the other 4 pieces
of mail?? Could they be messages in my Yahoo Messenger that they are
talking about? I just assumed they are talking about e-mail when they say
that. Thanx for any help. Patty

Update - I found them. They were talking about messages that were in my
Yahoo Messenger. Disregard this post. Thanx anyway. Patty

Me again. I guess that wasn't it because I read them and deleted them and
it still says 6 unread mail messages. Where the heck are they?? I can't
find them. Patty

The message 'you have x unread messages' when powering up is usuall bogus. To
clear the note:
Click start---run---type in regedit----click OK
Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\unread mail
Double click the value message count in the right pane and change the value to
0 (zero).

That count is not reliable; and if it gets out of sync will stay that
way.

Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP
SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Its Repair - Repair Unread Mail count will reset it; its Logon - Unread
Mail will allow you to turn the matter off altogether
