Can't find My Documents

When I try to open My Documents, which has all of my personal files, the icon
with the flashlight over a folder appears and stays. I have tried to go in
through "C:/" to "my profile" to "My Documets", but the same thing happens. I
have thought about just creating a new profile, but I need the files inside
of my documents.
I tried searching for the files inside My Documents, but the search returns
no items found or it takes a very long time. They are there though because I
have opened some up by typing in the entire file name.

Right-click My Documents|Properties|Target and have a look at the path
