I had WMP 10 when I was badgered into getting 11. Now I cannot even add one
album to my player, So I went back to WMP 9. Same problem. How can I
eliminate my CD poliiferation?
I am a retired P.S. teacher. This has been occurring for months now.

Tried to overtop my v.9 but was told after the downloading started that:
"This version of Windows Media Technologies is incompatible with this view
of Windows. For more information, view the information at the Microsoft
webite." Originally I had come here a few years ago for about the
same reason, I could not load CD's onto my Media Player. That was 10 and the
fellow helping me gave me some personal items to follow. I did and used that
Media Player for around two years. Then the 11's attacked me with their
"newer, better" routine. I shall no longer fall for newer, better. Still
need help!

If you upgraded from WMP10 to WMP11, then un-installed WMP11 through
add/remove programmes you will have gone back to WMP10.

Did you follow the advice here ?

I thought I had made it clear. When I inadvertently went to WMP 11, I
received a message the same way as getting the program so I thought it was
Microsoft. The message told me that further files had to be taken off my
machine. I didn't ask what files because I was told it was best for using my
new player. Okay! Do what you have to do. When I checked my hard drive,
there was no notice that I had ever used WMP 10. I also said that this WMP
10 thae way it played for me was arranged by Microsoft that wasn't local.
Since the loss of the mchine was my fault, tiredness, trying to do the right
thing, I suppose I should just give up ever using this form of entertainment
ever again. I certainly can't use it now. WMP 9 is horrid, I suppose I'll
go back to an inefficient wmp 11.

I am afraid to go back to WMP 11 for XP because that's what I though I had.
what started the whole
problem. It didn't work that's why I went to 9, skimpier and still not
working. WMP 10 is the only player that ever worked on my machine. Now I
get when I try to add my CDs "The file is already in use. Close other
programs that may be using this file, or stop playing the file, and try
again." This is the same message I got years ago before I went into MP10.
It was tiredness or the desire to do the "new thing" that got me into this
predicament. I should have known better. It gave me perfect sound quality
for years. It is just that the media player is a reminder of my
imperfection. That hurts.

I am such an intense personality that I have to get what I want. Because of
your attemps, I went again to WMP !! and finally got the right one. I am
using it now and listening to some beautiful smooth jazz, that wasn't easy to
come by when I started listening before the age of media players.
Thank you. I am satisfied.
