I just set up my first email account in Outlook. It is a POP3 account. When
I run the Test Account Settings, I receive the message "Send test e-mail
message: Unable to send test Message. Please verify the E-mail Address field".

I have retyped my e-mail address in the E-mail Address field numerous times
and I receive the same message. When I try to send a message from Outlook it
sits in the outbox and does not go.

Any help?

What do you have set as your POP3 & SMTP servers?

Plus, your IP address seems to indicated that you're at the Warrenville
Residence Inn. Most likely your SMTP server isn't on that same network which
means it's probably going to bounce any mail you try to send it.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am traveling and am at a Residence Inn. Is
there any work around? I am relatively iliterate about IPs, networks etc...

I set my POP3 and SMTP servers to the same servers I have set at home:
"SMTP.mail.wideopenwest.com". Can you be of assistance in getting me right?

Chris

The problem is that most ISPs bounce mail from off their nets to limit
spammers using their servers. Check if the Inn has an SMTP server you can
use or if your ISP allows authenticated access for off network usage.
