Can't e-mail from open exel document

When I am in exel or word I can't send document to windows mail. I have the
icon for mail but when I click it nothing happens. It works like it should
in Powerpoint. How do I fix this?

Start | Default Programs
Make sure Windows Mail has all its defaults.
