First, check your file extension. Is it still an Excel File? If not, open it
in Word and use Save As to save it as an Excel File by changing the Save As
Type. You will have lost any formulas if you have to do this, so I would only
do it if the File Type is no longer .xls.
If you still have an xls file, you can try opening up My Documents. From the
Windows Explorer Window, choose Tools|Folder Options. Click onto the File
Types Tab. Find XLS and make sure it is supposed to open with Excel. If not,
Click change and pick Excel out of the list.
