Can't Download XP SP1a

I'm trying to download SP1a for Win XP. I'm using a Win
ME to download and will transfer the file to the XP
machine. The download won't work because it thinks it has
to download updates for the Win ME machine I'm using and
insists on examining the Win ME machine, a totally
irrelevant exercise. How do I simply download the file?

You need to be sure you are downloading the network version of Windows XP
SP1a. The direct link is as follows:

service pack on anything but a spare machine is foolhardy. It's
true that there's no guarantee that you will be hit with
programs, but it's foolhardy to take the risk.

Are you sure this is right? It wants to download a 125MB
file for network update. Kind of big for a dialup line.
This is meant for a single PC.

The file size is correct. In lieu of downloading a huge file on a 40k
dialup connection, order the SP1a CD.

BTW, my impression was that the size was about 28MB.
What's that different about that version?

Which is the 'Network' download; the complete 125 or so MB one

The CD contains SP1a for WinXP and SP4 for Win2k, the files are placed
in the folder Content\Fullfixes on the CD
