Can't display address list

I am having a problem in getting an address list when I try to click on TO
while sending an e-mail and trying to display my address list. the message
that I get is:
"The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated
with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or
deleted, or you do not have permissions."

From the main Outlook screen, I can access my Contacts, but I cannot access
them when I am trying to find an address when sending an e-mail. Any ideas
on how I get the contact list associated properly?
