I downloaded a video clip to my desktop as a step to playing it in winmedia.
When I tried to do so I wound up with the outline of a dancing girl on myu
desk top and try as I might I cannot delete it. It is not in temp fles,it is
not in the add/delete list. And worst I don't remember the name of the file I
downloaded. HELP!!!

Sounds like the malware Virtual Girl (or Virtuo Girl). Do normal
virus/malware removal steps:

And on the very off-chance this is applicable to you: when searching for
free pr0n, never download the "free viewers". They are trojans - and
not a good kind.

Tulkas, where are you coming up with these answers? The answer isn't
that the OP *must* install MSAS. MSAS is a beta program and although it
looks like it will be good, beta software should never be installed on
a production machine unless one is prepared for the worst.

The OP has already gotten good answers to his question.

Let me try to decribe the dancing girl that I have on my desk top. The figure
is dancing and waving the arms,it is in blue color. The edges of the figure
are staight lines-as if the edge of a box or a square. It could just as
well be described as a man as a girl. I booted up into safe mode and then did
a search for Vg.exe and VirtuaGirl2 and did not find either.

Spyware Doctor, and Trend MicorI have Norton System Works 2006 and Norton
Internet Security 2005. In addition I run Adware,SpyBot,and Trend Micro. I
run these adjuncts to my Norton suite at least once every 24 hours for all.

In one option you indicated
1. close all open programs
2. Open a command prompt--I know how to do this
3. Right click on task bar--this I do not understand I don't see any task
bar??????

Pleasexcuse my ignorance.

Please forget my last reply. I figured out how to open task manager.
then I opened TM an hit the process tab. Selected Explorer.exe and then hit
the end process button.
I next minimized the task manager.

now i am back at the command prompt. but all i see is a blinking cursor. You
indeicate there should be a file there to delete???
