Can't delete thumbs.db

I downloaded 16 folders of images. Then I organized them into other files
and deleted the original files. 12 deleted fine. The other 4 are empty
except for a greyed out thumbs.db file. When I try to delete them I get an
error saying that they are in use by another file or program and cannot be
deleted.

I have changed all of my image folders to icon view. I have turned off
thumbnail caching. And I have rebooted, then gone directly to Search. When
I use the Search function it finds the thumbs, but they are still greyed out
and cannot be deleted.

What file or program could be "using" the thumbs file and how do it stop it
and delete them?

A couple of easy things first:

1. Change the View option in the folders you want to delete to list. Reboot,
if you need to, and try to delete the folder.

2. See if you can rename the Thumbs.db file. Then try to delete it, reboot,
etc.

3. Try deleting the folder in Safe Mode.

4. Check this software out: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/moveonboot.html

I have not used this program, so I make no guarantees.

Paulibus and John, thanks so much for your replies. I can't believe it, but
it let me rename it, then delete it. I don't know why that didn't occur to
me, but thanks so much for suggesting it!
