can't delete rules in Outlook 2003

In Outlook 2003, my Rules seem to have been messed up. several of
these rules (in the Rules Wizard) don't show anything in the Rules
Description field.. and even worse: I CANNOT delete them, since the
Delete button is greyed out and my Delete key doesn't have any
result....
(My pst file is on an external HDD.)
Please help in deleting the faulty rules.
