have you tried tp right click on deleted files to empty Deleted Items or
delete with Shift+Delete for permanent delete (works from any MS App eg
explorer - BEWARE - bypasses recycle bin!)
I know it sounds strange, but delete your sent items, then delete them from
the deleted items... then try to delete your messages in your inbox. I
worked with someone with a similar problem as yours and this worked.
