If you don't tell us what suggestions you've tried, you're likely to
get them over and over.

Download and install this fix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works
in other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit
version or the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. Certain
common antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton
or McAfee, or a recent one from Trend, tend to cause such
problems, although seldom immediately.

Tell us what if any antivirus programs you have.

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. Although most people should try the 32-bit version
first, it sounds like you should try the 64-bit version first. Certain
common antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton
or McAfee, or a recent one from Trend, tend to cause such
problems, although seldom immediately, so if you have such a
program, remember where to find the fix - you are likely to need it
again.

Usually due to interference from an antivirus program, especially one
with email scanning enabled. What if any antivirus programs do you
have?

For a temporary fix, download and install this hotfix, with Windows
Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version of the hotfix first.
Certain common antivirus programs, such as most of those from
Norton or McAfee, tend to cause this and other problems in
Windows Mail, so if you have such a program, remember where to
find the hotfix, and hope it will install again if you need it again.
A recent version of the Trend antivirus program also causes assorted
problems in Windows Mail.

This is often caused by interference from an antivirus program,
usually from Norton, McAfee, or Trend. We haven't seen enough
messages on the PC-cillin Beta program to know yet if it has
added the email scanning feature that often causes this interference,
but it frequently takes months for the problems caused by email
scanning to show up. Any beta testers for PC-cillin should ask
for an option to leave email scanning turned off if it is included.

A temporary fix is to install this hotfix with Windows Mail not
running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Windows or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version
first.

Try again. Perhaps that web page was undergoing maintenance when
you tried it before.

If you've used it before, it sometimes refuses to install again. I was
unable
to download it when I tried today. If you've installed Vista SP1, this
hotfix
seems to be included. You may have to wait for Vista SP1 to become
available for all Vista users. In the meantime, you may want to try the
WORKAROUND section at:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

If Microsoft does not start letting users download the hotfix
again, you may have to wait until Microsoft releases Vista SP1
to all Vista users. There are signs it include this hotfix. If you
need a fix while you wait for this, you may have to try the
WORKAROUND section at:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

You could ask for this hotfix to be made available again
at:

<https://feedback.windowsvista.micro...tp://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_vista_master>

You should at least get Microsoft to read your request, but
don't expect an answer.
