Try this Microsoft fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090
"Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a
computer that is running Windows Vista"

That page offers two download options. Unless you know for sure
you have 64-bit Vista, use the 32-bit option.

Although only 'Outbox' is mentioned, it will enable removal of stuck
emails from any folder.

Download and install this fix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also
works in other folders. If you don't know whether to use
the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit
version first. Certain common antivirus programs, such as
most of those from Norton or McAfee, or a recent one
from Trend, tend to cause such problems, although seldom
immediately, so if you have such a program, remember
where to find the fix - you are likely to need it again.

What is the file name for the 32 bit file. I used the one ending in 86 but it
tells me it does not apply to my system?
Thanks

I don't know the file name, but if you go to the web page referenced below,
it has separate download links for the 32-bit and 64-bit files.

If you don't know whether your Vista is 32-bit or 64-bit, chances are
it is 32-bit, because only die-hard enthusiasts spring for the 64-bit
version. Also, the System applet in Control panel will tell you which
OS version you have.

The one with 86 in it. The one for 64 bits should have 64 in the same
place.

The one that matches your version of Vista often refuses to install more
than once, though.

Hi there, as a novice in this area, I took the chance and downloaded the
update 941090. Thankfully I've managed to delete the one stuck message in my
outbox. This info has been really helpful after spending over half an hour on
the technical help line!!!! Thank you.

I am still faced with the problem though with messages, that I want to reply
to or send a new message, jumping into the outbox and not actually being
'sent'. Therefore i'm still experiencing the prob with sending messages. I'm
receiving them ok though. This windows vista (32bits) has been ok up until
recently. Does anybody have any solutions please?

You may not have set up correctly for your email provider. Such problems
sometimes block the outgoing mail, but not the incoming mail. Ask them for
their instructions for setting up to use their email servers. If they
haven't
written instructions for Windows Mail yet, their instructions for Outlook
Express should also work under Windows Mail as long as they don't call
for the HTTP protocol. The instructions are probably somewhere on
their web site. Or, you could tell us who your email provider is and see if
anyone here already knows where to find the instructions.

Do you get an error message when you try to send?
If so, post it here.
Which antivirus are you running?
