Can't Delete inbox or move

G

"(e-mail address removed)"
The Inbox folder is not supposed to be deletable or movable. The messages
inside it are, though. If any of them refuse to move or delete, download
and
install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other
folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version of Vista or a
64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first. Certain common
antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton of McAfee, tend
to cause stuck messages and other problems in Windows Mail, so if you
have such a program, remember where to find the hotfix and hope it will
install again if you need it again. A recent version of the Trend antivirus
program also causes assorted problems in Windows Mail.

Usually due to interference from an antivirus program. What if any
antivirus programs do you have, and have you ever had a Norton
or McAfee antivirus program installed on that computer?

For a temporary fix, download and install this hotfix, with Windows
Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders.

Note that I'm not sure you should be able to move or delete the
whole Inbox, instead of just the messages in it.

is there anyone anywhere who can explain the lousy vista system and help with
these e-mail problems?

This is a peer-to-peer help group. Help is offered here on a take-it-or-leave-it
basis. Unless you describe your issue in detail, it is doubtful that we can be
of much assistance.

I am having a problem with not being able to delete from the deleted items
folder. I downloaded the file mentioned for the stuck mail (941090) but got
"Installer encountered an error: 0x80070427 The service cannot be started
because it's disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it"

I spent seven hours Saturday, cleaning up virii and Trojan horses. I
imagine this is related. I also get two error messages at bootup for missing
dll files. Tried doing a restore but none of the restore points are left.

Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't subscribe to several busy mail lists.

Do you get an error message when you try to send?
If so, post it here.
Which antivirus are you running?

Hi there, as a novice in this area, I took the chance and downloaded the
update 941090. Thankfully I've managed to delete the one stuck message in my
outbox. This info has been really helpful after spending over half an hour on
the technical help line!!!! Thank you.

I am still faced with the problem though with messages, that I want to reply
to or send a new message, jumping into the outbox and not actually being
'sent'. Therefore i'm still experiencing the prob with sending messages. I'm
receiving them ok though. This windows vista (32bits) has been ok up until
recently. Does anybody have any solutions please?

Try this Microsoft fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090
"Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a
computer that is running Windows Vista"

That page offers two download options. Unless you know for sure
you have 64-bit Vista, use the 32-bit option.

Although only 'Outbox' is mentioned, it will enable removal of stuck
emails from any folder.

When I want delete, Windows Mail tell me:
"An unknown error has occurred"

Why I can not delete or copy or move?

This worked! Thank you so much for keeping me from throwing my computer
across the room. I tried everything until this fix. This fix took about 30
seconds and the email is finally gone. Thanks again.

It's better to ask that question in a newsgroup where the Hotmail experts
hang out:

microsoft.public.msn.discussion or microsoft.public.internet.mail

The one with 86 in it. The one for 64 bits should have 64 in the same
place.

The one that matches your version of Vista often refuses to install more
than once, though.

What is the file name for the 32 bit file. I used the one ending in 86 but
it
tells me it does not apply to my system?
Thanks

I downloaded KB941090 for my 32 bit Vista Home Premium with Windows Mail
first box: "it already exists do you want to overwrite?" Yes
last box: "this update does not apply..."
1) I still can't delete from inbox and outbox
2) messages in outbox keep being repeatedly sent while staying stuck in
outbox

service provider Comcast says this email account is set up correctly and it
is a Microsoft problem
I called phone# provided by Comcast and was told by polite Microsoft agent
that it is my OEM's problem.
HewlettPackard, my OEM, was never helpful except in the instance of
"legitimizing" installation of Vista after motherboard was replaced earlier
this year
Thanks in advance for any help.
