Find it with windows explorer, right-click it, choose properties, uncheck
"read only". -Dave

Serious question . . . have you run a complete virus scan lately? You can
get a decent one for free below. -Dave

Download and burn this ISO,
http://www.sheppola.karoo.net/bootd.zip.
Readme included in zip.Virus scanned but check it anyway.
This is a win98SE modified CDR/W .ISO image boot disk.It also contains
the,"Deltree.exe" dos deletion program that ignores file attributes.
Use the deltree command on the file after changing your BIOS or system
boot order to your CDR/W/DVD drive.
e.g deltree xxxxxxx.xxx where the xxs are the file name. You will have
to navigate to the file from dos e.g
c: and press enter
cd windows(if that's where the file is).
and press enter
deltree xxxxx.xxx
and press enter.

Remove Cd and re-boot.

HTH :)

I believe a third party (Sysinternals, Paragon) makes a driver for DOS
to access NTFS for a charge. Microsoft does not offer in order to
stimulate upgrades.

(No XP for me if hardware activation still included.)

Thanks for all your suggestions, i update my virus scan everyday and scan
once a week, but have real time monitoring on constantly.

It is really annoying how you cant boot into dos from start, shutdown,
restart in dos mode like the old days!!!

will that iso work for me as my partitions are ll ntfs?

thanks again

Well it will boot but I don't think it will see the data on the drives
but give it a go anyway.I can't as my dual boot is using FAT32 as I
don't need NTFS at the moment.
It's a handy disk to have anyway as it has other diagnostic and
partitioning tools on it like Aefdisk etc.

thanks again
