You might be able to get rid of it while in 'safe mode'
(hold down F8 while rebooting). If not, open a command
prompt to your desktop - keep it open and then open Task
Manager and in the 'processes' tab, end the process
'explorer.exe'.
Back to the command prompt, the file will now delete.
Back to Task Manager -'File' on the menu bar and enter the
new task 'explorer.exe'
Your done

Sometimes you can rename the file and then delete it.

Try Eraser?

I got a similar problem.

When I try to delete the file I got the message

"Can not delete the file: Can not read from source file or source disc."

In delete Doctor i got the result

Via DOS short name : cannot delete whith this methode
Via UNC name : No UNC name avable for this file
On system restart : nothing happened.

Eraser did not manage to remove the file also.
( I do not think it is a file, but a rest of a file)

How can i remove it?

I got the same problem as Good.

when i try to delete the file i got the message:

"Can not delete file: can not read the source file or source disk. "

I got the same result with "Delete doctor" as Goood
Eraser did not manage to remove it.

And there was no help here:
http://www.bootdisk.com/xptop20.htm#8

How can I remove it?

Hi JM.Annonce and Kalle - Sometimes tools will find files which they are
unable to delete because they are in use. A program called Copylock, here,
http://noeld.com/programs.asp?cat=misc#CopyLock can aid in the process of
"replacing, moving, renaming or deleting one or many files which are
currently in use (e.g. system files like comctl32.dll, or virus/trojan
files.)"

Another is Killbox, here: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

A third which is a bit different but often useful is Delete Invalid File,
here: http://www.purgeie.com/delinv.htm which handles invalid/UNC
file/folder name deleting, rather than the in use problem

The program "delete invalid file" helped me. Thank You.

I din not try the other two suggestions, since the file was not not in use.

YW, Kalle - Glad it helped.
