Hi
On two computers, with different brands of wireless network cards, I
cannot connect from limited user accounts, either manually or automatically.

If I use XP to manage the network, I get a message that there is more
than one network available, but only one shows up. Attempts to connect
manually are ignored. One motherboards has a built in network adapter
(disabled), the other not.

Using the network card software (one is MSI, the other Gigabyte) gets
rid of the "there is more than one network available" message but still
no connection. Entering the network key manually has no effect- there
is no error message, but the login attempt is ignored.

Logging in to an administrator account solves the problem, and the
network stays connected if I log out and then log in to a limited user
account. For security reasons I do not want to access the Internet from
an admin account, nor give my kids access to it. At present I leave the
computers on 24/7, but would prefer not to.

Surely the network should kick in for all accounts? The MSI actually
gives that option in the install program, and I did select it.

Can anybody help? I have been looking for answers for a while, but
without luck. If it was just one PC I would reinstall Windows and start
over, but two?

What sort of security do you have set-up for the wireless connection. I have
always used an admin account for my wireless connection, perhaps you need to
set-up the connection with the account set as admin and when the account is
working then change it to a limited user.

I tried that some time ago- didn't work

This isn't really a solution but a work around...I'd make the limited
account an admin account, then connect wirelessly. Once you've done that,
make the account a limited account again and see if it can again connect to
the wireless router. Otherwise you might try right clicking on the
wireless networking icon in the system tray and select repair. I don't know
the cause of the problem but making limited accounts temporarily admin
accounts has worked to resolve some issues for me in the past.
