Can't connect to Terminal Server

I am having a problem connecting to our network server
with my laptop, using terminal services. Our network
server is a Win2K with SBS 2000. I can connect with my
home PC which is ME, but with my laptop running NT 4.0
and SP6, I cannot connect and all I get is this very
nondescript message-"Because of a network error, the
session will be disconnected. Please try to reconnect."
Is it an NT issue? My connection to the interent at home
is a dialup and I can connect to my ISP, but when I
launch the Terminal Services client, I get this message.
I am only attempting to connect as administrator for
troubleshooting purposes, therfore th reason for
connecting to the network server, whcih by the way is the
only server on our small network. I have no problem
connecting from my desktop at work(XP) or my home PC
which I mentioned runs ME. Any help or ideas would be
greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the eventlog of the terminal server to
see if there are any errors occurring?

I checked the event log and found nothing pertaining to
my attempt to connect.

Yes I could ping my server and I think I got connected
using telnet, but I'm not too sure about the telnet
commands....am I to telnet port 3389 or the IP address?
What are the symantics of a telnet command? At any rate
I was able to ping successfully and see what I am trying
to connect to using the Terminal Services client.
